The MX Keys can connect to devices wirelessly via Bluetooth or an included 2.4GHz USB receiver with no noticeable lag. All of those features center around the fact that it's wireless. Though the core typing experience isn't perfect, some features on the MX Keys make the package as a whole useful and convenient.
(To my wrists, it could use a bit more padding, but at least it does match the MX Keys' aesthetic.) Given that this is a high-end product that puts your wrists in a poor position, Logitech really should have thrown it in. Logitech offers a new memory-foam-padded wrist rest to pair with the MX Keys, but it costs an extra $19. Similarly, because the keyboard is both very thin and flat, your wrists end up in a rather uncomfortable position. (Some of them are technically "gaming keyboards," but don't let that stop you.) You can get a low-profile mechanical keyboard that still looks slick but feels much better to type on. That's the thing, though: Once you make the jump to a desktop keyboard, you can pick any one you want. Now, plenty of us use a desktop just so we don't have to type on a laptop keyboard. In fact, Logitech itself describes the experience of using the MX Keys as "laptop typing." And we concur. They offer just 1.8mm of vertical key travel, similar to what you'd find in many laptop keyboards. Like past MX keyboards, the MX Keys uses Logitech's own low-profile membrane keys. It isn't quite as minimalist as an Apple Magic Keyboard, but its brushed-aluminum body and thin, lowercase, sans-serif keytop legends lend a sleek "It came from the future!" look. At 5.2 inches from front to back, 16.9 inches wide, and a low-profile 0.8 inch high-that's with a built-in lift-the MX Keys has a clean, appealing style. That's surprising because, while this is a keyboard for power users, it has a very compact and svelte shape. The MX Keys is a full-size keyboard, clocking in with 108 keys.
